20 Week Bumpdate

 20 Week Bumpdate

I am so excited to be at the half way point, and still can't believe its already 20 weeks carrying this sweet little nugget. I have a lot to update you on, especially since this is my official bump date update. Yesterday we had our 20 week ultrasound appointment, and we received some new photos of the baby girl. I just can't stop staring at them! They also gave us a 3D image of her face... well sort of and I mean its just the cutest thing. It still trips me out that this little baby is growing inside of me.

Also, how cute is that lamb knit doll by Cuddle + Kind? Her name is Lucy and whats even more amazing is that for every doll purchased form Cuddle + Kind, they donate 10 meals to children in need. You can read more about why they donate HERE.

Lucy is about the size of a baby, so I can't wait to have them snuggled up together. You can check out Lucy + all her cute knit friends here. They seriously make the perfect baby shower gift and its a win win because you're not only gifting one, you're also feeding 10 children by purchasing. We need more good in this world!

HOW BIG OUR BABY IS

Our baby is about the size of a banana! At our 20 week appointment she weighed about 15 ounces, which is 1 ounce shy of a pound! She is in the 80th percentile for her weight and thats just crazy to me because I'm still barely bumpin'.

20 WEEK DR APPOINTMENT

Like I said she almost weighed a pound! A majority of the appointment she was curled up in a little ball playing with her toes. I mean it was just the cutest thing i've ever seen. When she wasn't playing with her toes she had one hand up on her face or above her head. This appointment was by far one of the most fun, we looked at her hole body from head to toe. We saw her heart and all her chambers, which are looking great! We saw her foot prints and they already look so BIG! (I'm a size 10 so this poor girl is probably going to have some big feet) Baby is transverse, which means she is laying sideways. Her head is on my left hand side and her feet are on my right side (rather then being up and down) See diagram below. Overall, the appointment went great and baby is doing good!

HOW MUCH WEIGHT I'VE GAINED

I have gained a total of 10 pounds so far! My DR wants me to gain at least 35 pounds, which just sounds crazy to me. But if baby is growing and healthy then I don't mind getting big! I have been trying to go to the gym at least 2-3 times a week just doing minor cardio and light weightlifting. I plan on starting up prenatal yoga here within the next week and I can not wait!

CRAVINGS

- Pizza with no cheese, pepperoni, pineapple and jalapeños
- Golden Grams or OH's cereal
- chocolate chip cookies with salt
- watermelon with tajin seasoning

SYMPTOMS

- Sore boobs

Please don't hug me too tight if you see me. These babies are growing and are so sore.

- Sensitive nipples

This might be TMI but literally the day I hit 20 weeks I was out to breakfast with my sister. I was wearing a flannel with no bra and all of a sudden I felt a drip on my ribs. Basically out loud I said to my sister "Did I spill water on myself?" Nope not water my boobs leaked a little! I felt my nipples and they were wet. I mean whattttt?!? I guess its normal, but whoa totally caught me by surprise. Now I'm making sure I'm wearing a bra haha.

-Exhaustion

I literally have to take a nap daily. If I don't I am ready to go to bed by 6. I just hit this afternoon slump and I'm just beat.

- Frequent Urination

I wake up at least twice during the night having to pee. I also just feel like I have to pee al time time.

THINGS I'M HAVING A HARD TIME WITH

Sleeping! I've had a hard time falling asleep and getting comfortable. I'm usually a stomach sleeper. Going through IVF your bum is always sore from progesterone shots, so sleeping on my stomach was always my go to. Now I've been trying to sleep on my left side (since apparently you get better blood flow to baby) and it just takes me a while to get comfortable and fall asleep. Basically I'm tossing all night trying different positions. I have yet invested in a pregnancy pillow, but if you used one and it was life changing let me know!

Figuring out what I really need for baby girl. Nowadays I feel like they have so many gadgets for everything. I'm having a hard time filtering what is really needed. I feel like being a first time mom you think you need everything! So any advice will be appreciated!

STRETCH MARKS

None yet! I've been using Vitamin E oil from Trader Joes and Palmers stretch mark cream.

BELLY BUTTON

Still and innie :)

MY FAVORITE THING TO WEAR

- Maternity jeans and an oversize tee, sweater or flannel

-Dresses

- sweats and sweatshits or loungewear

WHEN I FEEL OUR BABY

Now I am feeling baby girl daily. It's my favorite thing. She is very active, which I see every time I have a DR appointment. I feel her a lot though at night time before I'm going to bed. I'm usually laying on my back and she is just stretching all out. Gregg felt her kick only the first time I felt her kick. Since then every time I tell him to feel my belly she gets shy and stops moving.

DO WE HAVE A NAME

I think we have decided on baby girls name, however, we are not sharing. We want it to be a surprise + we want to see her before we actually 100% commit. All I can say is it has been so hard. Gregg and I have such different tastes I'm surprised we have 2 names we both love. Stay tuned...

MY FAVORITE MOMENTS OF PREGNANCY SO FAR

- Hearing the heart beat for the first time when I was about 6 weeks pregnant
- Announcing we were pregnant to family and friends
- Finding out we were having a little girl at our 15 week appointment!
- Feeling baby kick for the first time, which was around 17 weeks.
- Our most recent 20 week appointment finding out baby was looking good and healthy and watching her play her her feet and wave her little hands. Also seeing her little face in 3D - still so crazy they can do that!

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

Besides meeting our little girl in February, I am probably looking forward to our next appointment so I can just see her again! I swear being able to see your baby is like a drug. You just want more and more!

I'm also excited to start the nursery. I have the whole thing played out in my head. Now I just need to find and purchase everything to make the sweet little nursery come to life.

I'm excited to get my booty started doing some prenatal yoga. I've never been a big exercise gal. I mean I love walking Sampson and running around with him, but I've had to force myself to go to the gym and thats just so boring to me. I think prenatal yoga will be fun and good to be around some other pregnant gals!

I signed us up for a orientation class at our hospital that will be next month. I'm excited to get more information and familiar with where I will be giving birth.

WHAT I'M WORKING ON

The main thing on my mind is getting ready and prepared for this baby. I am feeling so good right now that I want to take advantage of it and get shit done!

The nursery is a big project on my mind. I have an idea of what I want, but just need to start buying things and get it in order. I'm such a planner that I like stuff to get done and not drag on.

WHAT I'M DOING FOR MYSELF

Making sure I get my daily nap haha and I've really enjoyed getting my nails done with my sister about every 3 weeks. Theres nothing better then some girl time and treating your self.

NURSERY UPDATE

A HUGE thing we accomplished this weekend was built our dresser for baby girl. I'm going to be honest it showed up to two boxes and a billion pieces, but is totally worth the price. Gregg and I definitely fought during the process, but were still married so it wasn't that bad haha.

You can shop it HERE.

I also purchased a rug, which I am so obsessed with. I think it is going to really be the piece that pops in the room! Cant wait to share the whole thing, but you gotta wait for the whole nursery reveal.

I have wallpaper going up in 2 weeks and I think once this happens it is going to make me want to finish the whole room. I am just so excited!

I also have a vintage rattan bassinet that I found on craigslist about a year ago and have been hoarding. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it in the nursery or downstairs once baby comes. So we will see.
